From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could enable the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers parties.
Fans can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
