The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category Could Fix That

Whenever a significant prize-giving event nears, there’s always a demand for introducing additional classifications to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and delight the spirits of fans who have specialized interests.

A fellow writer previously argued for a horror game category. That would be fantastic. So would tabletop games, which is someone's personal cause. Yet I need to apologize in advance if I try to elbow in front because like all blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument backing this proposal stands as crucial above others. Here's the proposal: It's essential to create an award type for logic-based games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and inevitably spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why movie academies avoid this approach. But it is an essential concession in the world of gaming, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them one unified medium.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to gain proper attention, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

Leading game ceremonies currently feature award types recognizing Action, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these award types successfully include many game types, making space possible for numerous titles.

Not so for brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears to put them. Examine these examples from recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: the architectural riddles in a particular game, intense tile-matching of another game, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. Which classification works within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Recognition Challenges

Numerous examples exist outstanding logic titles released every year without proper recognition in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match for categories like Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive independent game categories.

  • A renowned logic title got overlooked in any category during that awards season
  • Another creative title missed out during that ceremony
  • Well-received sorting experience got ignored recently
  • Just some logic titles managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

Frequently they represent compact experiences, yet the craft in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Well-known matching games count as most popular titles worldwide and have been for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title rivals well-known building titles competing to become most purchased experience; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, while interacting with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter that issue. It would be easy to populate a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences every year with ease — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these represent titles without proper classification in important events. Puzzle game makers function at the challenging frontier of video game design, developing some of essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Comparable to film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
